Pentimento,  acrylic paintings

Ruti Modlin is a figurative artist who previously lived in Europe and Africa and has recently returned from a retreat in Eygaliéres in the South of France. In this new exhibit, titled Pentimento, she takes her old painted canvases and recycles them into new expressive work.  In some instances she allows the previous lines to show through, elaborating on the idea of "pentimento" where the artist "repents" or changes her mind, allowing new concepts to filter through. The interaction between the two layers, create new tensions and dynamics.
