Nancy is a narrative/figurative painter who graduated from the SAIC post-bacc program in 1994, joined the group of visionary women at ARC nearly 2 years ago.  When she isn’t scratching her head in her studio, or trying to balance the ARC checkbook, she works as a pediatrician at the University of Chicago, specializing in adolescent medicine and chronic disease. Oddly enough, these disparate roles (physician and artist) seem to complement each other.  Originally from the east coast, she found a nitch on the south side of Chicago, where she has lived for the last 20 years and raised 3 daughters.  Having just tucked the youngest of these daughters into her new college dorm room, her nest has suddenly emptied out.  So now, as she looks forward (with a bit of trepidation) to the inherent challenges and opportunities of this next life stage, she anticipates that the magic of paint, expression, and visual metaphor will inform (as it always has) whatever comes next.
