Nancy and David Bechtol present photographic works that are charged with contrast of visions. They are an intense couple whose art and lives exude the study of contrasting real and surreal and engage a visual match of the natural and unnatural. Alisa Singer

“Environmental Graphiti: The Art of Climate Change”       Opening  Fri. March 3,  6-9pm

Alisa Singer believes the general public needs to become more aware of the compelling facts regarding climate change and the many ways it is impacting our planet. She was attracted by the aesthetic design elements of scientific charts and graphs, and intrigued by the idea of using art to help draw attention to their urgent message. She sets out to develop an approach to marry her art to this cause by using as the “blueprint” for each of the digital paintings in the series, The Art of Climate Change, a chart, graph, word, number or symbol representative of a key fact about climate change. Her discoveries have shown that the art makes the science more accessible, and the science makes the art more meaningful.

Laura Cloud

RE(Tracing) Morocco”       Opening  Fri. March 3,  6-9pm

Laura Cloud – RE(Tracing) Morocco is the result of a residency program I attended during the summer of 2016 at Green Olive Arts located in Tetouan, Morocco. During the nineteen seventies, I had the experience of living in Morocco for two years. While in residence, I revisited and documented contemporary Morocco through photo, video, sound recordings, journal entries, and drawings. RE(Tracing) Morocco layers past experiences, memories, personal history, etc. the contemporary.

A special thank you to both Green Olive Arts for providing me with a studio and time to be creative and Michigan State University’s College of Arts and Letters for awarding me a Summer Research Fellowship.
