Paintings Like Drawings,”  mixed media

“My interest in painting began first with a fascination with traditional crafts such as things like doilies, lace and rickrack. I found it interesting to re-contextualize these objects by representing them through the more ‘rarified’ medium of painting. I began to investigate an abstract dialogue loosely based around these objects. My most recent body of work further embraces these abstractions, and also marks the onset of my fascination with the material qualities of paint. By embracing the uncertainty of the way paint moves and drips, and the multitude of possibilities for mark making, I seem to construct my paintings like drawings.”
